You have to fund building your experimental airplane or
helicopter somehow!
Let's face it-if you're
like most pilots and aviation enthusiasts, there is never
enough money to go around after supporting the family,
fixing the things around the house, paying for the cars
and keeping them running, buying groceries, clothes, and
everything else needed in our daily existence. For many of
us, the money to pay for flying comes pretty far down the
list of expenses that need to be taken care of. Flying has
never been cheap, especially if you wanted to own your own
airplane, or like our goals, build your own experimental
kitplane or kitbuilt helicopter.
I set out several years ago figuring out how to make
money to support my flying so that it wasn't a burden on
the family. I literally did hundreds of hours of
research into the best way to do this, and ultimately
decided the best way to make money while not taking an
exorbitant amount of time from my regular work was to
make money online.
I can already hear what your mumbling to yourself.
"Oh yeah, here it comes, another pitch to make money
online." It was the exact same thing I've said to
myself while doing this research. But, the more I
studied, the more I realized I couldn't see the
forest for the trees. Here are the facts: Let's put
it on the table: the internet is not going away. It is
becoming more and more a way of life, and less the
novelty it was in the beginning. Think back over the
last 12 months or so. How many times have you ordered a
product or got some sort of information online? Look
what you're doing right now. The entire premise of this
website is to be a gateway for the experimental aircraft
homebuilder to find whatever he or she needs on the
internet to complete their project. Look at all the
businesses, very reputable ones, the biggest and best in
the experimental aviation industry, who have an online
presence. If you needed a part or certain material to
complete your project and couldn't find it locally, you
probably wouldn't hesitate to flip on your pc, click a
couple of links, and your order is on its way. Make no
mistake about it, the web is here to stay--and grow.
Here's a quote, taken directly from an
article recently in the Washington Times:
Online retail
sales — spurred by new shoppers and more
spending — will grow to $65 billion this year and will
continue to increase to $117 billion by 2008,
according to a new forecast by Jupiter Research.
This year, 111 million
consumers will make online purchases — a 14 percent
increase from last year. By 2008, there will be 151
million U.S. online shoppers, predicted Jupiter, an
online research firm.
It went on to
say this interesting fact:
This year, 18
percent of all purchases made in traditional
brick-and-mortar stores started with online research,
said Jupiter. That will grow to 30 percent by 2008.
And those
estimates may be conservative. Forrester Research has
predicted that online sales may be as much as $218
billion by 2008.
Another
intriguing detail I recently came across is that one
of the underlying reasons consumer use of of the
internet is going to grow, along side of the fact that
retailers are beginning to figure out the best way to
sell on the net, is the growth of broadband
services. As I write this, some 18% of U.S.
internet users are connecting via broadband
connections, making the online experience much better
and more conducive to integrating online shopping into
our daily life. Here's what one research firm recently
reported regarding broadband:
According to a report by Jupiter Media Metrix, 41
percent of online households in the United States will
subscribe to a broadband Internet connection service
by 2006—up from 9 percent in 2000.
That's more than 35 million users. Users who are very
comfortable using the web--and making purchases.
So, you say, what's that mean to me. I don't have a
business, I don't have anything to sell online. In
reality, it means everything.
The way business is done on the net would surprise you--it
sure surprised me. Now that I've studied how business is
really done on the
internet, I see it everywhere. Every time I visit the
various websites I frequent, I see things I never saw
before. I see people, just like you and me, making money
on the net. And they are not just the mega-businesses like
Amazon or Wal-Mart either.
There's a zillion ways to make money online. All you
have to do is be a little creative about it and get off
on the right foot by making the right connections. I
can tell you after my extensive research that there are a
million pitches on the internet trying to convince you
that by buying their program you'll become a
millionaire over night. Well, as you might guess,
99% of it is pure crap.
I'm here to be honest with you.
Making money online is not only possible, it happens every
second of every day. And it can happen for you,
too. But it doesn't happen over night, and it doesn't come
without effort. You can't just slap up a website from some
free-be hosting site and sit back to watch the dough roll
in. It isn't going to happen. Ever. But, with the
right connections and help in the very beginning, and a
little creativity and hard work on your part, you can
make money online. And, working at it, you can make a
lot of money online,
ifyou treat it the way it is--a business.
No business that is successful, whether it's online or
your local car dealership, gets that way without effort.
And an online business won't succeed either if the owner
doesn't make a commitment to understand his target market,
and create a place of value that is worth coming back to.
But wait, don't you have to be a website programmer, or
computer wiz to do this kind of stuff? The answer is
emphatically, NO. As long as you partner with the right
